And now for something completely different

I’ve been wondering when is the right time to make this announcement. I’m starting to realize the timing will always suck so here goes. Earlier this year I realized I’m transgender. It’s something I’ve been wrestling with for a while now but back in May I decided I needed to transition. I started taking estrogen in late July and am planning on changing my name and living full time as a woman by mid-2019. It’s been an adjustment for the wife but to her credit, even though she constantly reminds me she’s not a lesbian (that makes one of us), she’s trying to make a go of it and things are actually going pretty good so far. I’ve been seeing a therapist about this since 2016 and since my decision to transition, Mrs. Force10 has come with me a few times and I think it’s helped. She’s also made a really good effort to educate herself. If only my family would do the same. A couple folks (my sister and a couple cousins) are supportive, but most everyone else I’ve come out to so far (including my mom) is just uncomfortable and would rather sweep it all under the rug than talk about it. All my friends have been cool about it so far though.

Over my time here at CoG I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many of you in person. Some of you were even kind enough to let me stay with you when I was touring the East Coast in 2006. Shout out to @Hasufin, @OzBob, @Darktan and @GratchSabbat for that. And now I get to tell you that out of all of you, only @TechnoMistress has met the real me (in Vegas back in October). Perhaps some day I’ll be able to afford to travel again and we can rectify that. So anyway, that’s my story. If we’re friends on FB and you want to be friends with my female profile, PM me and I’ll shoot you a link. I’m much more active on that one these days. Here are some before and after pics. Obviously not my real hair or boobs in the second photo but I’m working on both.

I’m glad you felt comfortable enough telling us this

Just remember, even if things get bad in the whole process, you’re never alone. And if everything goes super-well for you, even better!

:+1: You’ve got to be comfortable being you, and if that’s not the you that you were born as… :man_shrugging:

I hope the whole transition goes as smoothly as it can for you, and that those who’re currently uncomfortable can accept that this is about you, not them, sooner rather than later.

You’ll always be you to me. You are who you are, and while gender is part of that, it’s not all of that. For one, I don’t plan to unfriend you on FB, and if you’re creating a second profile for the female you, please do send me an invite.

There are enough people in the world trying to convince everyone that they’re somebody else. Whoever you are is good enough for me.

Congrats on figuring out the real you. So many people don’t do that in so many ways. You have the rest of your life to live as the real you. It is clear to me that you most certainly are much happier in your new/true skin - you can see it in your eyes in the pictures you shared. Congrats again, and good luck with everything. We’re all counting on you! Wave that hat! :hugs:

Suggested Listening:

Everybody Be Yoself
Chic Street Man
Northern Exposure Soundtrack

Be careful, if you look for the lyrics for this online, you’re probably not going to find the right song. :slightly_smiling_face:

Good for you, its important to feel happy an comfortable in your own skin!

Congratulations! We’re all just figuring out who we are, so it’s nice when someone makes a breakthrough. What other people think is their problem, don’t worry about it. Big hugs!

If it’s what works for you, go for it.

Be yourself and be happy.

Congrats on taking this step @Force10! It was lovely meeting you and your wife in Vegas - one of the highlights of the trip.

@Nabiki, may I suggest you change F10’s Zot! to “Lady Scratches A Lot”? If that’s what she would like, of course.

If F10 so wishes, I will do so.

So let it be written. So let it be done.

Hidy F10!

You took that first, hardest step to becoming who want to be. Real friends can’t be mad at you for that! Don’t fash yourself overmuch on your family and friends that aren’t understanding your needs. As the old saying goes, you can’t be happy for someone else until you’re happy with yourself.

We’ve got a spare bed (that’s much more comfy than the one you slept on during your last foray) so feel free to hang out for a while. Door’s always open chico! Congratulations to you for understanding what you want and following the safe route to get you where you want to be.

Holy crap, it’s a Gratch sighting!

I also heard her mentioned on a podcast recently, which was surprising.

@Force10 - good for you! The only person you have to be is yourself, and you’re doing exactly that!

@Lee_Ars, I’d send you a friend request but I know you don’t book faces.
